Alejandro Sanz attracted 16,000
people to Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi for the presentation
of his latest album No es lo mismo. Spain’s most
important pop star, who recently received five Grammy
Awards, displayed his outstanding talent on stage once
again.
The concert opened with 12 x 8 and Eso, two tracks
from his last album, followed by Quisiera ser and Cuando
nadie me ve, two hits from his album El alma al aire
and the first to get the audience singing in unison.
He returned to his newest songs with Labana and Hoy
llueve hoy duele and took the opportunity in between
songs to express his love of music: “a song can’t
stop a tank but it can touch the heart of its driver.”
Alejandro Sanz returned to his album No es lo mismo
with the flamenco-influenced Regálame la silla,
the gentle He sido tan feliz contigo and the rap Try
to save your song. The notes of La fuerza del corazón
brought a nostalgic touch to the evening.
The singer took the opportunity to pay tribute to his
hometown Cadiz and said his desire was to “bring
his land a little closer to Barcelona.” An important
part of the concert was devoted to remembering some
of the songs that have turned him into the star he is
today. The audience were touched by a more intimate
Alejandro Sanz who performed solo at a piano placed
on a luminous cross-shaped walkway. Lo ves, El alma
al aire, Sólo se me ocurre amarte and Aprendiz
preceded the musician’s greatest hit, Corazón
partío, which brought the entire audience to
its feet. It was then time to hear Alejandro play a
song on his guitar in the flamenco bulerías style,
which he dedicated to southern Spain and to his daughter
Manuela.
The concert ended with an emotive miscellany made up
of the songs Y si fuera ella, Amiga mía and Mi
soledad y yo, ending with a performance of his single
No es lo mismo. It was the perfect ending to a concert
by an artist who has reached an excellent professional
maturity. |
