Forum brand products

The Forum licensing department started work two years ago creating a collection of articles to be sold under the Forum brand. Last June a public competition was held to gather a wide variety of proposals from interested companies, and a careful selection of suppliers was made.

Licensees were chosen taking into account the origin of the raw materials, the companies’ working philosophy and manufacturing process, and other such criteria. Forty percent of the ones that were chosen work entirely or partly in cooperation projects, or have carried out projects with recycled materials.

The collection of Forum-designed products is divided into three large groups based on the Forum’s three core themes. In turn, each group is subdivided according to age groups: children, youth, and adults.

To help promote young artists in the city, Forum Barcelona 2004 organized an illustration competition among students of the Massana School of art and design.

The product catalog contains 9 different lines, with varying numbers of items:

Fair trade: games, coffee, bags, and T-shirts.

Stationery: notepads, erasers, folders, pencils, rulers, CD cases, etc. Some of the products are made from recycled plastic, corn fiber, and algae.

Textiles: T-shirts, caps, bathrobes, towels, trousers, bags, etc. Some of the products are made from ecologically grown cotton that helps to maintain development programs benefiting peasant communities. Also included are MOGU products (decorative cushions), which are produced as part of a humanitarian program designed to ensure that those of the world’s peoples that lack the basic minimum have the opportunity to become self-sufficient.

Hand-woven textiles: winter scarves, neck scarves, shawls, towels, tablecloths and place mats, curtains, etc. These articles have been made by mentally disabled people. Operating the looms helps them to coordinate mental and physical activity, and assists the development of psychomotor skills.

Jewelry: necklaces, ear rings, pins, and watches. The end products are 100% handmade.

Pottery and glassware: coffee sets, cruet sets, glass dishes, glass trays, etc.

Silk: neckties and scarves.

Magnetic items:
fridge magnets and bookmarks.

Beach articles: sunglasses, towels, yo-yos, sunshades, swimwear, etc.

Points of sale

At the Forum site, during the event, there will be 5 shops exclusively devoted to selling Forum merchandise. Their opening hours will coincide with Forum opening hours.
In addition, the licensees are already distributing Forum products through their usual channels and have already started selling.
Other possible points of sale are being negotiated. The first agreement has been reached with the shops belonging to the Barcelona tourism agency, which will set aside an area for Forum products. It is expected that Forum products will also be sold in the shops of the Barcelona Culture Institute.
