The audience was waiting for the actors to appear on the improvised stage set up on the Talismans Plaza. It was 3:30 p.m. and the show was about to begin. Laughs could be heard, and some members of the audience were moving around and talking loudly to each other...Nobody really understood what was going on. But the group that was camouflaged into the audience knew exactly what was happening: the show had already begun.
It was the start of one of the five acts that the company Mi Brazo Izquierdo, led by histrionic comedian Jango Edwards, will perform at the Forum Site until August 22 as part of their show Montando Pollos. The Fools Militia. 20 actors and actresses are in charge of proving that humor can be used to respond to the most basic and complex questions of everyday life.
The number chosen as their Forum premiere is based on sounds, onomatopoeias, mime and the surprise factor. In Montando Pollos ("Making a Scene"), they seek a reaction from the audience and an interaction between those who are sharing the moment with them. They pretend to applaud an invisible situation, follow the trail of an imaginary plane or watch a game of table tennis; they have a fit of the giggles or yawn uncontrollably...Their aim is to make the audience laugh. And that is precisely what they achieve.
If you're looking for your 30 seconds of fame, feel like taking part in a 20-person teeth-brushing session or witnessing a highly unorthodox hip-hop performance, visit the Forum any day of the week. All you need to do is turn up, and they'll "make a scene" for you.
