Forum Barcelona 2004 music program to include Bob Dylan, Norah Jones and Phill Collins

Concerts to be held in June and July. Organizers of the Universal Forum of Cultures – Barcelona 2004 have confirmed that performances will be offered by three international music stars—Bob Dylan, Phil Collins and Norah Jones.

Concerts by Bob Dylan, Norah Jones and Phil Collins are a notable addition to the list of singers and musicians who will be appearing on stage as part of Forum Barcelona 2004. The singer-songwriter from Minnesota will perform in July at Poble Espanyol; in June, 24-year-old Jones will demonstrate once again her jazz talents at L’Auditori in Barcelona, and Phil Collins will present his latest show at the Palau Sant Jordi in July. The concerts will be offered within the framework of the Forum Barcelona 2004’s City Performances programming.

Dylan was born in 1941 in Minnesota, USA, and began to teach himself to play the piano and the guitar at the age of 10. It was not until he traveled to New York in 1961, though, that he began to gain wider recognition and first signed a contract with Columbia Records to release the songs that were eventually included on the album called simply “Bob Dylan”. Since then, Dylan has released more than 40 albums.

The path followed by Norah Jones parallels Dylan's in many ways. The young American performer also felt an early passion for jazz, soul, country and pop-folk, and took up singing and piano as a teenager. Her album “Come Away With Me” earned her eight Grammys and swept her to fame.

Phil Collins was born in England in 1951. At the age of five he sold his electric train to buy himself a drum, and his musical career has not stopped since. Collins was the drummer for Genesis and has since pursued a solo career.

Dylan, Jones and Collins join the list of Spanish and international groups and performers who have confirmed that they will be taking part in Forum Barcelona 2004. The lineup for the event includes Youssou N’Dour, Carlinhos Brown, Gilberto Gil, Manu Dibango, Naab, Natasha Atlas, Orchestra Baobab, Femi Kuti, Luis Eduardo Aute, Kiko Veneno and Victor Manuel, among others.
