What will happen at the WYFB 2004?
The WYFB 2004 is a gathering whose designers, organizers and main participants are youth associations and which is expected to attract nearly 10,000 young people from all over the world from 8 to 14 August to share ideas and projects, hold dialogues and reflect on issues that concern and affect young people.

The content of the WYFB 2004 is based on four basic pillars: globalization, sustainable development, cultural diversity and the conditions for peace. These issues will be addressed from the perspective of young people, with special emphasis placed on the participation of young people and youth policies.

The Festival programme is structured as follows:

Central Programme: the main conferences of the Festival, where internationally renowned speakers will focus on the four pillars.
Self-organized Programme: hundreds of activities proposed by youth associations and institutions from all over the world that work with young people.
Parallel Programme: leisure and sports activities, association-movement tourism, and sightseeing in Barcelona and Catalonia.
The Fair: space open to the visitors to the Universal Forum of Cultures with stands of the platforms and member organizations of the International Preparatory Committee and some Catalan and international institutions.
Youth Association Fair: 15,000 m2 where participating youth associations can present their projects.
141 Questions: from 8 to 14 August, this space at the Forum will be given over to youth. Renowned speakers will answer visitors’ questions.
International Youth Day. On 12 August, with activities at the Festival venue and other locations, Barcelona will become the world capital of young people with the collaboration of the United Nations. The youth-association movement will be responsible for organizing the day’s commemoratory activities, which will be focused on the participation of young people and youth policies.
The International Day of the World’s Indigenous People: on 9 August, the Festival will celebrate the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People in conjunction with the United Nations’ High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR). Young indigenous people from all over the world will be the guests of honour at this commemoration.

Who supports the Festival?
The Festival has received support from local, national and international institutions and organizations, such as Barcelona City Council, Barcelona County Council, the Catalan government, the Council of Europe, the European Commission and United Nations agencies and programmes (UNESCO, UNICEF, ILO, UNHCHR, UNFPA, UNDP, UNEP).
