Club of Madrid to collaborate in the organization of the Dialogue ''The world today'' at Forum Barcelona 2004

Fernando Henrique Cardoso, the president of the Club of Madrid, and Jordi Oliveras, the director general of the Forum, have signed a collaboration agreement

Jordi Oliveras, the director general of the Universal Forum of Cultures – Barcelona 2004, and Fernando Henrique Cardoso, the president of the Club of Madrid, signed a collaboration agreement today between the two organizations. The agreement states that the Club of Madrid will provide assistance and collaboration in the organization of the Dialogue “The World Today," which will take place on May 12 and 13 of this year at the Forum Barcelona 2004 site.

Club of Madrid thus becomes a part of the program committee of the Dialogue and as such will contribute content and formats. The Club of Madrid will also present program proposals and suggest speakers. The organization will contact important figures to whom it has access through its regular activity and will facilitate their participation in this Forum Barcelona 2004 event. The Club of Madrid will promote the Dialogue through the organization's usual networks, and will assist and collaborate on other related Dialogues and activities being organized within the framework of Forum Barcelona 2004, such as the closing Dialogue, "Contributing to the Global Agenda."

"The World Today," the opening Dialogue of the Forum, will focus on the current state of the world. The conference will feature the main themes of the Forum and the challenges facing humankind in the 21st century. “The World Today" is characterized by the combination of the contradictory processes of globalization and emerging ideas, economic growth and spaces filled with poverty, well-connected elites and marginalized populations, technological advances and the decline of physical conditions, advances in medicine and worldwide pandemics. It will be held on May 12 and 13.
