The Interaction 2004 sessions launch the first Forum Dialogue

Antoni Fogué, councilor for culture for Barcelona Provincial Council, and Ferran Mascarell, councilor for culture for Barcelona City Council, today inaugurated the first Forum Dialogue: Interaction 2004. Agenda 21 for Cultural.

Antoni Fogué today emphasized that this encounter will inaugurate the Forum Convention Centre, which will house the rest of the program of dialogues for the event. Fogué asked for the “comprehension” of participants in dealing with possible inconveniences arising from the inauguration of the new building. The councilor for culture also pointed out that this, the sixth edition of Interaction, is the most international of all the events to be held to date, with the participation of over 70 speakers from around the world, especially Europe and Latin America and with more than 700 registered participants, who today attended the inaugural session of the Dialogues.

Ferran Mascarell mentioned the role of culture in our society and reminded participants that successive editions of Interaction have been converted into a point of reference for the cultural management policies over the last two decades.

The director of the Dialogue, Jordi Martí, explained that behind this encounter that starts today “there has been a long road of preparatory work, which has been taking place in several cities around the world”. Martí affirmed that the Agenda 21 for Culture event (see enclosed document) has previously been discussed in over 500 cities. In this sense, Martí pointed out that the human geography of Dialogues shifts between the heart of Europe and Latin America.
