Traditional Sports

Various traditional sporting practices from around the world will be on show in the traditional sports area. From the 500-seater grandstand, spectators will be able to learn the basis of each sport and discover some of the cultural aspects of the people who play them.

Each display will last around 90 minutes. One or more sports will be demonstrated and, whenever possible, an educational workshop will be held about the sports exhibited and others of the same family.

A speaker will briefly explain to spectators the rules of the sport and provide some information about the context in which it has developed (for example, its symbolism, the equipment needed to practice it or the place where it is played); spectators will also be encouraged to cheer on the players or competitors and will be told about some of the moves or plays to look out for.
